It looks like you're hitting some browser limitations. While the REST endpoint can be called from within a browser, most browsers will prevent cross-domain access by default. The way around this is by using JSONP with jQuery's getScript function.

I've been unable to get the POST functionality to work with jquery. Is there some sample code for that? Everything I've seen is GET only.

It's good to note, too, that the LiveAddress API has a new server setting called "properCase" (http://wiki.smartystreets.com/liveaddress_api_users_guide#server_settings) which, if set to "true", will enable this feature, so:

1600 AMPITHEATRE PKWY
MOUNTAIN VIEW CA 94043-1351

will instead be:

1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy
Mountain View CA 94043-1351

This setting is "false" by default to comply with USPS preference of upper-case lettering. The "properCase" setting has no effect on punctuation.

When we first got into NCOA it was because the USPS was starting to apply the standard to most all mailings. Since that time, and perhaps due to business pressure on the USPS, they're "enforcing" the rule less and less. In fact, only first-class mailings are the only ones required to use NCOA--and that's when you're mailing things like bank statements and such. For most other kinds of mailings, it's your choice. The other thing we found was that NCOA didn't really help our customers like they wanted it to. They wanted to be 100% sure they had a current address for John Smith. The problem is that NCOA doesn't do that. It only says, I have an old address where someone lived and if they've moved within the last couple of years, I'd like their new address. What happens if they moved 4+ years ago? NCOA can't help you. And if they didn't move? NCOA can't help you.

If you still *really* need NCOA and it's not to fill an arbitrary requirement (check with the mail receiving agent at your local post office to see if you can be exempted from this rule due to the contents of your mailing), then there are a few providers out there that are pretty good. Peach Tree is one of them.

Is there another service that offers NCOA? We switched to you because your NCOA met the move update requirement.

[...] We will now be offering a free downloadable preview for every list you process! This preview will include the first 42 records from your file. Gone are the days of a one-time, multi-step, limited free trial! It’s like you now get a free trial with every list you process! So, if you’re not satisfied with the results in the preview, you don’t have to download the full output and you’ll never have to pay for that list (you can just delete it from your account using our slick new interface).
